"For some years now, I have wanted to paint and publish a significant range of single breed portraits. As a painter of canine subjects, I am best known for illustrating just a handful of breeds. If you consider, however, that there are somewhere in the region of one hundred and ninety recognised breeds in the U.K. alone, you will appreciate that this could prove to be a daunting task. If you add to this the fact that many breeds have multiple colour forms - there are, for example, three colours of Labrador - you begin to understand the potential scale of the task in hand. I am not being unrealistic in my approach to this project and know that I will probably never achieve a complete and comprehensive range of works. Nevertheless, I would like to think that the pages of this site will grow steadily and, in time, encompass a significant number of the breeds of dog whose existence and diversity enrich our lives."
